5 creative event concepts for businesses at Tapijn

A company party, staff gathering or product presentation doesn’t always have to follow the same format. A unique concept, a different layout of the venue, a programme that moves through the venue, or even a deliberate choice to focus on a particular season can all result in a completely different experience.

Tapijn is situated in the heart of Maastricht’s Stadspark, in the former troops’ canteen of the Tapijn Barracks. Thanks to its flexible capacity of up to 400 guests, an industrial-style interior and a large outdoor area, there are various ways to organise a corporate event.

Need some inspiration? Take a look below to see what creative concepts can be realised at Tapijn:

1. A food festival-style company party

At a company party, not everyone has to sit at the same table all evening. A relaxed set-up, where guests decide for themselves where to eat, sit or catch up with colleagues, suits Tapijn down to the ground.

The interior space and the terrace can form part of the programme. Think, for example, of shared dining, a walking dinner or various dining sessions spread throughout the evening.

By making food the focal point, movement within the space happens naturally. Guests find it easier to move around and change conversation partners, without the need for a detailed programme.

2. A buffet-style dinner with live music

A standing reception It’s ideal for an evening that turns into a party later on. Guests keep moving throughout dinner, and the music plays an increasingly important role as the evening goes on.

Tapijn’s interior can accommodate a live band or a DJ and can also be arranged with seating and bar tables. This means the evening can begin with dinner and continue later with live music.

3. A summer party with indoor and outdoor areas

In the summer, the terrace can also be actively incorporated into the event. The outdoor area is directly adjacent to the building and can accommodate up to 100 guests.
For example, a reception or drinks party might start outdoors, followed by dinner or the party taking place indoors. Alternatively, the meal might be served indoors first, with the guests later moving outside for a more informal part of the evening.

As the two spaces are directly connected, it is easy to move between indoors and outdoors throughout the day or evening.

4. A winter drinks party with winter-themed catering

Also in the winter The season can help shape the event. Think of a winter barbecue, a walking dinner or drinks reception with tailored catering, lighting and décor.

That said, a get-together in December doesn’t necessarily have to be a traditional Christmas party. An informal winter drinks party with colleagues or business contacts can be just as fitting a way to mark the end of the year.

Moreover, Tapijn’s industrial look gives such a venue a completely different character to that of a traditional function room.

5. A product launch comprising several programme components

In the event of a product launch It often revolves around different stages within a single session. First, the introduction; then time to look at the product; and finally, an opportunity to engage in further discussion with one another.

Tapijn can be arranged in various ways for this purpose. A formal presentation could be followed by a more informal session with drinks or dinner. Alternatively, different areas of the venue could be assigned specific roles within the programme.

Which concept suits your business?

Planning a business event starts with the purpose of the gathering, the number of guests and the desired atmosphere. From there, we can look at the layout of Tapijn, the catering, the technical requirements and the rest of the programme.

Tapijn is part of Event Management Group (EMG), an organisation with various event venues in the southern Netherlands and Belgium. The venue team in Maastricht oversees events on site and can draw on the knowledge and experience available within EMG.
